I qualified in 2011 with a Bachelor of Nursing Degree, at Edinburgh Napier University. Since then I have always been based in an acute setting. My first post was in Newcastle in an Emergency Assessment Unit where I consolidated my nursing skills.
Since 2013, I have worked in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary within the Emergency Department. Throughout my training, my passion was always to work within emergency medicine and this is where my enthusiasm for acute nursing began. Whilst working within the department I have gained valuable experience and have developed my scope of practice as a well rounded nurse. I have also learned the true meaning of teamwork! I knew since being in this post that I would remain within the department for a long time as I had caught the “ED bug”.
My curiosity to work with the well established EMERGE team has always attracted me, and my luck was in this July (2019). The prospect of researching into methods to improve patients care and enrol this into the acute care setting where my passion lies seems to be the perfect job role. I am excited to embark on all the opportunities this role has to offer and still be working under the umbrella of the Emergency Department team.
Outside work my family is my priority and my two little girls keep me constantly on the go, but I am also highly motivated to play a part in making a difference in healthcare for their future.
