Emergency Medicine Doctor

I am an Emergency Medicine doctor, currently working full-time on clinical trials for paracetamol poisoning while I complete my doctorate. I am particularly interested in the interface of Clinical Toxicology and Emergency Medicine, and my research projects reflect this: illicit drug use, emergency mental health, adverse drug reactions, and improving the care of poisoned patients.

I have designed and delivered research projects from pre-clinical animal models through to human clinical trials. Currently I am leading a number of toxicology projects, including biomarker discovery, predictive computer modelling, animal model refinement, and novel therapeutic discovery.

I have post-graduate qualifications in Medical Toxicology, and Legal Medicine. I also work as a member of the Toxicology Advisory Group for both the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and the Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liaison Committee. This has led to authorship of several toxicology-focussed national clinical guidelines addressing areas of particular concern for Emergency Medicine clinicians and ambulance staff in areas which may lack clear consensus.
