Holly Spence

Senior Research Nurse

Holly graduated from The University of Edinburgh in 2020 with a Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) degree. Throughout her degree she developed a love for working in the fast-paced, hectic environment of emergency departments and began her career in St John’s Emergency Department. Whilst working there Holly became curious about how research could improve patient care within emergency medicine and subsequently completed a master’s degree in Advanced Nursing with Leadership at the University of Edinburgh. She spent two years working in a busy emergency department in New Zealand and has only recently returned to Edinburgh to join the EMERGE team.

Holly is excited to work with the EMERGE team as it combines two of her main interests, emergency medicine and research, to improve patient care. When not at work, Holly enjoys being in the hills, outdoors, traveling to different countries, and eating chocolate.
