POS-ARI-ER

The POS-ARI-ER study is a multicentre, Perpetual Observational Study of patients with suspected Acute Respiratory Infections presenting via Emergency Rooms and other acute hospital care settings.

As demonstrated by the recent Covid-19 pandemic, respiratory infections have the ability to cause large outbreaks and potentially become of significant public health concern.

The objective of the POS-ARI-ER study is to develop an understanding of respiratory infections and identify how they are diagnosed and managed in hospitalised patients.

Patients will be recruited over 40 European sites and data including various diagnostic investigations performed, treatments administered and clinical outcomes will be collected. The study additionally involves obtaining nasopharyngeal swabs for a subset of participants based on randomisation.
